McAdams/Pickwick cemetery PK Lake. Named after Captain William Carroll McAdams who settled in Palo Pinto County in 1854 and fought many battles with the Native Americans in the region. The cemetery was established to serve the local Pickwick Community which was destroyed and is now under the lake. The first marked grave is dated 1889 and in 1940, graves from the Carter Bend Cemetery were moved here as construction began on Possum Kingdom Lake. Many of the unmarked graves were put into 1 coffin which consisted of Native American remains along with settlers to the region. The grave site where these bones were buried is very active almost like the souls buried in that grave are very upset that they were moved from their original Graves. When the Sun goes down is when it gets really active. My name is Pappy and I am the caretaker for the cemetery. I have seen shadows walking around the cemetery on many occasions. Voices talking to me as I have worked and there are also some screwed up stories of different families that are buried there.
